Anton Ziolkowski
Board Member
Anton Ziolkowski is Professor of Petroleum Geoscience at the University of Edinburgh, appointed in 1992. He co-founded MTEM Limited, a 2004 spinout exploration company from the University using a patented electromagnetic method to look for subsurface hydrocarbons. He was MTEM’s Technical Director until 2007, when the company was bought by Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), where he became Chief Scientist, Geoscience and Engineering.
He returned to the University from his secondment to MTEM and PGS in March 2010. In his earlier career he was a staff member at the Seismic Discrimination Group of Lincoln Laboratory, MIT, 1971-73, Headquarters Geophysicist to the National Coal Board, 1976-80, consultant to the British National Oil Corporation, 1980-82, and Professor of Applied Geophysics at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, 1982-92. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
One of his current activities is application of the MTEM method to the search for hot groundwater for geothermal energy.
