Jon Fitzpatrick
Honorary Vice President
Jon is a senior energy finance advisor with extensive executive board-level relationships and corporate, institutional and professional advisory contacts.
He brings over 20 years’ experience in the energy industry, underscored by a demonstrable record of success in executing major corporate finance transactions, equity issues and providing strategic financial advice worldwide. In 2016 he established Gneiss Energy, a specialist advisory firm comprising an expert team of corporate finance and industry professionals operating globally across the fast-evolving energy landscape.
Gneiss Energy brings a unique combination of investment banking and on-the-ground experience and advises some of the world’s biggest and most innovative energy clients on a range of transactions in multiple jurisdictions across all sectors, including Cleantech & Renewables, Oil & Gas, Energy Services & Infrastructure and Metals & Mining.
As Founder and Managing Director, Jon draws on his wealth of experience to provide insight and advice for board and senior-level management executives across the whole energy sector. Jon is a regular public speaker and has published papers and articles on a range of topics, including the deregulation of European energy markets, UK energy infrastructure, tariffs and third-party access as well as analysis and commentary on UKCS decommissioning regime and its challenges.
He is currently Honorary Vice President of the Scottish Energy Forum and an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Dundee, as well as being a Mentor in their Leadership Plus Programme. He also holds a non-executive role at Proteus.
Outside work, Jon is a keen collector of contemporary art and involved in a number of art-based initiatives. Alongside his mentoring work with the University of Dundee, Jon supports the Robertson Trust programme which offers self-development opportunities and financial support to 16-25 year olds in Scotland who face barriers to higher education. He also a founding member of Love Dougalston, a community-led initiative to protect green spaces in public ownership.
Jon is also an active member of various professional bodies and institutions, including the Law Society of Scotland, the Association of International Energy Negotiators, the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales, the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, the Worshipful Company of International Bankers, and the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain. He is also a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.
He has sat on the Board of The Scottish Energy Forum since 2008 and was President from 2013-15.
