Transition Projects, Industrial Renewal and Regional Growth

Building on themes explored earlier this year with Dr Ewan Gibbs around the industrial evolution of Grangemouth and Mossmorran, this session will examine how Scotland’s largest industrial cluster can transition from a legacy of refining and petrochemicals to a centre for low-carbon industry and advanced manufacturing.

The discussion will explore how the Forth Green Freeport is creating the conditions for this transition through strategic investment in infrastructure, ports and industrial sites, supporting projects in offshore wind, hydrogen, sustainable fuels, carbon capture, logistics and advanced manufacturing. With significant public seed funding intended to unlock billions in private investment, the session will examine how these developments can accelerate project delivery while safeguarding industrial capability, creating high-value jobs and strengthening Scotland’s energy security and competitiveness.
