Global Lessons for Scotland’s Energy Future – An Evening with Michael Barnard

About our Guest Speaker

Michael Barnard is Chief Strategist at TFIE Strategy, where he advises investors, utilities, infrastructure developers and industry organisations on evidence-based decarbonisation strategies and long-term energy transition planning.

His work spans energy systems, electrification, power grids, transport, industrial decarbonisation, critical minerals, climate technology and long-range demand projections, helping organisations test investment and policy assumptions against the realities of physics, economics and operational performance.

A widely published commentator on global energy issues, Michael is a regular contributor to CleanTechnica and has written for publications including Forbes, Newsweek, Slate, Quartz and RenewEconomy. His analysis is known for challenging conventional thinking, scrutinising industry narratives and comparing competing technologies against evidence of scalability, cost, infrastructure fit and real-world deployment.

Through TFIE Strategy Briefing and his advisory work, Michael develops long-term sector projections and strategic analysis for organisations navigating the transition to secure, affordable and low-carbon energy systems.

Global Lessons for Scotland’s Energy Future

The Scottish Energy Forum is delighted to announce a special event in Edinburgh featuring Canadian energy systems strategist and analyst Michael Barnard, who will join us during his forthcoming visit to the UK.

Michael is known internationally for independent, evidence-based analysis of the global energy transition. His work is read by policymakers, investors, utilities, developers and industry leaders seeking to understand which decarbonisation pathways are likely to scale, which are likely to struggle, and where capital, policy and infrastructure decisions may be misaligned with technical and economic reality.
