The Scottish Energy Forum announces new President and Board appointments for 2025-26

Leadership changes at the SEF

The Scottish Energy Forum is delighted to announce the appointment of Angela Mathis as its incoming President, with Donna Sutherland (Veri Energy) and Rhona McFarlane (Welligence) joining Nicole Doig (Howden) as Vice Presidents. These voluntary roles reflect the Forum’s commitment to being an open, industry-led platform that unites all parts of the energy community. Together, the team brings a balanced mix of perspectives and experience from across the sector, ensuring the Forum continues to foster informed, inclusive, and forward-looking dialogue.

Angela Mathis, CEO of Thinktank Maths, has formally taken up the role of President this autumn, succeeding Gabriel Mynheer, who concludes a two year term.

A longstanding contributor to the Forum, Angela brings valuable experience in energy systems innovation and will help guide the Forum through the next phase of its evolution at a time of rapid change and challenge for the sector.

Commenting on her appointment, Angela Mathis said:

“It’s an honour to step into this role at such a critical time for the energy sector. The Scottish Energy Forum continues to provide a vital space for constructive and inclusive debate. I’m excited to work alongside Donna, Rhona, Nicole, and the wider Board to shape the Forum’s activities.”

Reflecting on his term, Gabriel Mynheer said:

“It has been a real privilege to serve as President over the past two years. I am proud of the programme we have delivered and the conversations we have hosted. Angela has been a thoughtful and active member of the Forum for many years, and I know the Forum will continue to thrive under her care and energy.”

To strengthen continuity and reflect the Forum’s growing activities across the UK, the Forum will now have three Vice Presidents:

Nicole Doig, London-based Head of the Oil & Gas Desk at Howden, is a Petroleum Engineer with strong technical and financial experience across the upstream energy sector. Her background spans reservoir engineering, corporate finance, and energy transition strategy, combining analytical rigour with a broad understanding of market dynamics.

Donna Sutherland, Head of Commercial at Very Energy, has nearly 20 years of experience in energy infrastructure, regulation, and decarbonisation. She has played a key role in recent event planning and strategic direction.

Rhona McFarlane, VP of Business Development at Welligence Energy Analytics, brings valuable insight into upstream markets and data-driven energy strategy. Her contribution has been central to expanding the Forum’s audience and sector reach.

This announcement comes as the Forum builds on a recent brand refresh and a busy calendar of events spanning Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and London.

The Scottish Energy Forum thanks Gabriel Mynheer for his outstanding contribution and welcomes Angela, Nicole, Donna, and Rhona as they continue to shape the Forum’s future through their energy, insight, and voluntary commitment.
