Field visit to EDF Torness

Join us for a guided visit to Torness Power Station, Scotland’s only generating nuclear power facility. With the “Evolution of Energy Conversion, a continuing role for Nuclear?” in April with Keith Burns, this field visit is the ideal opportunity to extend understanding of the topic.

Overview

Torness Power Station is Scotland’s only generating power station. First commisisoned in 1988.

Torness is a nuclear power station on the east coast of Scotland, 33 miles east of Edinburgh. It is capable of supplying electricity to over 2 million UK homes.

Our visit

We will travel to the facility on shared transport with security checks in advance and on arrival.

1.45pm Leaving from the Royal Scots Club on Abercromby Place

3.00pm We will arrive at the Power Station for a tour including introduction from Torness Station Director,

4.30pm Tour Concludes

4.45pm Return to Edinburgh

6.00pm Arrival Edinburgh and light bite at the Royal Scots Club (£15 per head)
